Going to see a motion picture has always been an enjoyable experience for me. I loved the idea of brining to life the giddy feeling I get when preparing to see a movie. Creating these film series posters allowed me to bring out my inner child and highlight the energetic feelings seeing a movie in theaters can bring!
Film Series
The concessions stand was a place for me to choose how indulgent I was feeling about the movie. Scattered popcorn and handfuls of candy are one of the first things I picture when thinking of a movie theater, and I wanted to capture that in the first series poster.
This poster design was created for the NAU Film Series sponsored by the university’s art and communications departments.
Summer of Soul
The Summer of Soul poster highlights one of the movies shown during another film series. Music was a huge part of the televised event, so I wanted to showcase a few artists and their instruments of choice. The deep purple in the movie’s color palette gave me a feeling of power, elegance, and royalty. This inspired me to put the musicians on a type of keyboard pedestal so that they could shine down on the audience with their glowing tunes.
