These vinyls covers are layered photo manipulation pieces. Aurora’s Ascension album also features hand drawn type.

Both artists whimsical and ethereal music styles very clearly influenced the imagery used in these covers. The foggy atmosphere and muted background colors add to the fantasy and magic subjects.

The album covers were not designed to be a pair, them both happened to be inspired by artists with a similar music taste. However, they show how similar music genres can create completely diff erent sounds, in turn inspiring very diff erent art.

The cool toned blues and purples give Aurora’s album a more mysterious and chilled feeling. The warmer greens and red gives the Dune Moss cover a lighter and more curious tone.

AURORA

When designing a new album for AURORA I wanted to make sure the cover art translated her magical and transformative music. The use of eyes throughout the cover creates a suspense from being watched, covered by the fog as a way to hide their true intentions. The forest surrounding the river gives the audience a chance to escape before being lead to the looming eye portal in the center.

AURORA often uses manipulated images of herself on her album covers. I wanted to step away from this obvious correlation to her, and focus more on the feelings in her music.

DUNE MOSS

Dune Moss also specializes in whimscical and etheral folk music, so there are similar feelings and imagery that pops into my head when listening to both artists. Many of her previous albums have been inspired by fairies and magic so I chose to incorporate one of those beautiful creatures. This cover seems to be zoomed into the ground of these magical forests, highlighting the fungi, moss and other organisms protecting the earth below.

Dune Moss often uses organic illustrations in her cover art, so I chose a photo manipulation design to create a magical world, much like the fantasy world her music seems to transports her listeners to.
